Welcome to Studio Art!
Studio Art Club is a portfolio club designed for students who are motivated to create a Visual Arts Portfolio for High School Admissions to a Visual Arts High School Program (i.e., Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Bayside High School, School of Art and Design, etc.). Students will produce a portfolio using the media and processes that best support their concepts, utilizing the Elements of Art/Principles of Design, personal expression, and the current portfolio requirements of NYCDOE Visual Arts High School Programs. During the development of their portfolios, students are expected to implement fundamental Visual Arts Skills, utilize the 8 Studio Arts Habits, take risks, and develop complex concepts in which they think critically about their chosen topics, engage in visual problem solving, and experiment with technique and materials. In addition to creating artwork, students will engage in research, critique, making connections, and refine their work.
